Citrus Industry Forum to Promote Unity: 2003
Project:
Organise a regional industry forum.
Project Leader:

Aims:
- Improve communication between sectors of industry.
- Enhance understanding of the supply chain.
- Promote united future of industry.
Background:
The sectors of the citrus industry rarely have the opportunity to come together as a whole to discuss common issues. It was felt that the region had much to gain by bringing all sectors together to hear speakers from a range of sectors and have an informal discussion.
Approach:
- Plan and design the forum.
- Prepare and distribute promotional material.
- Organise logistics, including venue, refreshments, funding and speakers.
- Chair the Forum.
Challenges:
- Confidence to initiate this project and gain support from all sectors.
- Preparing promotion material and dealing with the media.
Outcomes:
- Chaired an industry forum.
- Forum with speakers from management, packing, marketing, supermarkets, wholesaling.
- Bringing together 50 industry members from across sectors to learn about the whole industry and discussing common issues and exploring opportunities.
- Positive media coverage of event and industry.
