Streamling the Reporting Requirements for Citrus Packers: 2004
Project:
Streamline the reporting requirements for packers.
Project Leader:
Samantha Rogers, Quality Control Manager, River Fresh.
Aim:
Reduce the workload of industry stakeholders by streamlining the reporting requirements of industry and government.
Background:
The reporting requirements for packing sheds in the citrus industry create a significant and unnecessary workload. There are requirements for similar information from multiple agencies. Therefore there was seen to be a need to establish a system that would allow access to existing growers’ mandatory pre-harvest requirements by creating an approved supplier database on a website.
Approach:
- Prepared a draft proposal to put to statutory organisations and packers.
- Accessed support from all relevant stakeholders.
- Established the cost of conducting such a Forum.
- Prepared a template for use on the website.
- Ensured the process complied with the privacy act.
- Approached websites designers
- Presented to the SA Citrus Board, resulting in the Board agreeing to implement the project with Samantha as an advisor.
Outcomes:
A streamlined information system developed to reduce the reporting requirements and duplication.
Commitment by SA Citrus Board to implement this system.
Website with a data base detailing each organisation’s approved details on one page per grower/orchard.
