Develop a Youth Program for the Dairy Industry: 2005
Project:
Provide opportunities for young people to become actively involved and develop skills as part of a youth movement.
Project Leader:

Aim:
Research and implement a model for involving young people in the dairy industry.
Background:
Young people in the dairy industry often feel isolated from their peers and there are limited opportunities to come together socially, as well as to learn more about their industry and develop skills in relation to breeding and showing cattle.
Approach:
- Researched programs conducted around the world.
- Sought interest from young people to participate in a developed policy to ensure
a fair and equitable program.
- Prepared and presented a proposal to the Holstein Australia Board and gained
their support to go forward.
- Committee implementing programs specifically targeted toward involving and
skilling young people.
Challenges:
Gaining the support of young people and existing leadership.
Outcomes:
A youth program for young people in the dairy industry.
Opportunities for young people to come together to meet others while they develop skills and knowledge.
