The Advance in Sugar Leadership Program conducted its final session in Canberra. Participants had the opportunity to meet with the Federal Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and share ideas in relation to his commitment to leadership development opportunities for young people in agriculture. Moira Shire (on the Murray in Victoria) is committed to building the leadership capacity of both staff and the broader community. Seventeen community members recently graduated from the Community Leadership Program having completed a six months program which resulted in new initiatives for communities. The projects included; fun, fitness and health programs for children, music festival, young concert, mentoring program, beautification to town entrance, walking tracks and new training facility.
